The Best Dior Makeup Products In 2020

J’adore Dior, Et Toi? (I love Dior, & You?)

I love Dior products, not because they are the best, but because Dior was the first luxury brand I ever purchased from with my own money. My love for makeup started young.

At the age of three I was crushing my mother’s Clinique lipsticks between my fingers like play-dough, a clear indication that I was destined to love makeup. Fast forward 12 years, my mother took me to Macy’s to purchase me my first Clinique skincare and makeup products. I loved them, of course!

From there, my curiosity grew and so did my spending. I remember being 15 years old and only making $200 every 2 weeks from my first job. I would blow my entire paycheck on just 2-3 Dior products. The first products I purchased were the Dior Blackout Mascara and one of their eyeshadow quads. Then I purchased a purple eyeliner pencil, the Dior Lip Glow, and the Dior Airflash foundation. Who cares if I had no money, at least I had Dior. Right? (joking). I realized that I didn’t need(and couldn’t afford) any of that makeup at 15,16,17, or even from 18-21 years of age. So, I gave Dior and my wallet a break for a long time.

Fast forward to now, and I’ve found my way back to Dior. Anyways, on with the “review”.

Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet: I love this scent. It’s very floral and light. This is not overpowering and its the perfect everyday scent. If I had to sum it up in 1 word, I’d say it’s very pleasant. It makes you feel pretty and light. As you can see, I’ve finished the entire bottle. So, it’s not as if I’ve just purchased these products and hastily decided what my opinions were. This is not a first impressions type of ‘review’. No, these babies are all over a year old lol. Yes, I know makeup expires…..no I will not discard them at their expiration date (how dare you!).

Dior Lip Glow: This is an oldie but a goodie. I have never purchased any other shade but the 001 shade. I love this product. If you don’t like the color on your lips, preferring mainly nudes, then this might not be for you. I like it because it feels and smells nice. It’s got a refreshing feeling and it smells luxurious. I also just love the way that Dior does its’ lip product packaging, making the experience so pleasant. It’s a great everyday product to moisturize, protect, and add some color that isn’t too bold but just enough.

Dior Lip Addict Tattoo (in natural red): The formula is very velvety. I must admit though, I haven’t been using this very much at all. I purchased it in the winter months and thought I would get more use out of it. Alas, I have not. It’s not the formula so it must be the color that deters me from reaching for it. I wouldn’t give this product a negative review, but I won’t be repurchasing it in the same color. In regard to the formula, it’s got tremendous staying power, which can be a good or a bad thing depending on who you ask. If you’re using this product, be ready to commit to the color for the entire day as the formula is very long-lasting.

Dior BACKSTAGE Glow Face Palette: I enjoy this palette because it’s so multifunctional. I use it on my cheeks, brow bone, and nose as a highlighter and on my eyes as an eyeshadow. I’ll use all the colors except for the pink one on my eyes. I don’t like that shimmery pink on my eyes. The top two colors are great for inner corner highlights. I also like using them on the inner corner of my bottom lash line for an extra pop of color. The bottom bronze color is great as a contour shade for the eyes or as a lower lid shade. It’s beautiful on brown eyes and I can see it working really well for light eyes as well.

Dior BACKSTAGE Contour Palette: I don’t put too much stock in those “Allure Award Winner” badges you see on products because I don’t really trust the authenticity of such awards. However, this one is the exception to the rule. I agree with Allure here. This product is a must. It has the perfect shades for eyeshadow and contour. I use every shade, which is a rare thing to be able to do with any palette. I would repurchase this once mine it done. 5 stars:)

Dior BACKSTAGE Face & Body Primer: Even though I am a certified makeup artist, I don’t believe in primer. In makeup school, there was a debate amongst students and teachers about the necessity of primer, some professors vouch 100% for it while others don’t care for it. One thing is for sure, on your wedding day, DEFINITELY wear a primer. In your day-to-day, I think it’s a ‘nice to have’ product but not a necessary one. A good skincare routine or moisturizer(luxury or drugstore) can really make all the difference. That being said, I enjoy this product and feel that it makes a difference. Because I don’t wear foundation that often, I do find that a little goes a long way and I can get my money’s worth out of it.

Dior BACKSTAGE Face & Body Foundation: Even though I don’t like to wear a true foundation every day, I still need one. I need it for special occasions or days when I just really want to look my best. My holy grail foundation has been Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation for the longest time. I got a little too tan for it at one point so I purchased this. I will say that I truly love this! One thing I love doing when I am not in the mood to wear this full coverage is mixing it with my moisturizer. It goes on beautifully. You can barely feel it. That’s what separates a good foundation from a bad one for me. I don’t like to wear foundations, so when I do wear them, I don’t want to feel them on my face.

Dior Forever Perfect Matte Powder Foundation: I love this! Partly because the shade is just so perfect for my skin color. I have a neutral skin tone so I walk a very fine line between looking too orange/yellow and looking gray/ashy. Shout out the Sephora employee who spent over an hour matching me! You’re amazing. I got it in shade 020. It makes you look immaculate. It’s high coverage. I can’t say enough about it. From the packaging to the little velvet pouch they give you to cover it, they got it all right. One thing I would change? the sponge that comes with. I’d rather have more product than a sponge applicator I am never going to use. I’d rebuy this.

Dior Rosy Glow Blush: This is a product I use every day. I can’t decide whether I like Chanel or Dior blush better, but the colors are what make me use both. There is no color that exists like Dior 001 (to my knowledge). It’s supposed to be universal. It looks like it would be very bright and clown-esque on the skin when looking at it while it’s inside of its’ packaging, but it’s not. When you put it on it gives you a beautiful youthful flush of pink, making you look more alive. I could be biased, of course. My favorite makeup product is blush, a product which many like to shy away from(for reasons that are understandable). Personally, I have no color on my face. I never get flushed, even during the most rigorous exercise routines. My lips are the same way so I like to have constant color on both my cheeks and lips. For now, I can’t imagine a time when I wouldn’t like this product lol!

Dior Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil: It’s not pictured, but this product works great on my brows. It worked so great that I bought it after using my sister’s. I got the universal shade. Surprisingly, the universal shade works well on my dark brown eyebrows and my sister’s blonde eyebrows. How? I don’t know, but I don’t mind! I bought it in the recent Sephora sale and it hasn’t arrived due to the Pandemic so there will be no photo.

Dior Skin Nude Luminizer in Nude Glow: This and the Dior Backstage Eyeshadow Palette are both new in my collection. This highlighter is beautiful, but it’s not for everyone. It’s very light and natural looking. If you’ve bought and you’re not happy with the intensity, consider adding a spritz of water or setting spray to your brush before applying it. That will help it show up more.

Dior Backstage Eyeshadow Palette in Warm Neutrals: This is the perfect day to night time palette for the working woman or someone who just enjoys a versatile and compact palette. I really enjoy having it.

Honorable mentions:

Dior Lip Addict Lip Maximizer: This was one of the first products I tried from Dior. The smell is heavenly, but if you don’t like lip plumping products or the sensation they give then you will not be happy with it. The smells were intoxicating and it was really fun to apply because it’s a luxurious experience. I never repurchased it, but it was a good product. Part of the reason that I didn’t repurchase was because of the price, but also because I discovered Too Faced Lip Injections Extreme Lip Gloss.

Dior Air flash Spray Foundation: This stuff is great, but as someone who doesn’t like to wear foundation all the time, the price doesn’t justify me keeping it constantly stocked in my beauty collection. I love it, it works, and it feel nice on. I find myself going back to it from time to time. I am never dissatisfied with anything about it other than how quickly it runs out and its’ price tag. This is a product I would consider wearing on my wedding day and that’s saying a lot.

Dior Nail Creme: I received this as a gift from my sister and it might be small but it is such a nice gift. It’s a very thoughtful gift that someone usually wouldn’t purchase for themselves. I keep it by my nightstand and apply it at night as needed. Every time I use it, I think of how nice a gift it is. I aspire to be that great of a gift giver, giving things to people they never knew they wanted and would never buy for themselves.

Dior Glow Oil: I’m really interest in trying this! Have you tried it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

That’s it for the Dior product overview. I hope I was able to provide you with some brief distraction from all the chaos and negativity taking up our thoughts during this pandemic. What are your favorite products in Dior, if any? Do you have some suggestions for me to try? Let me know in the comments!

Stay safe, stay healthy!
